Mar Malade’s music is an instant escape from reality.

Like a colorful out-of this-world place you can travel, explore and feel warm and fuzzy in.

 

Appropriately Mar Malade started as an escape from reality. A joyful experiment of two longtime friends fooling around with guitars, voices and percussion. Following whatever made them smile and feel warm, euphoric and a bit nostalgic. Creating a little world of sounds and songs they can travel and explore.​

»Our music is the closest to childlike joy we can get. That kind of »diebische Freude« (thievish joy) we feel when a funny little element pops up, when a weird lyric fits, when a flute makes us laugh.«

Mar Malade write and record their songs wherever they feel at home:

 In the garden, at home at the coffee table or in an old children's room in their beloved northern german hideaway called »Bösen« where the flutes reside and the metaphors grow like wild plants.

 

All the instruments, all the sounds you hear on our records were played, recorded and produced by just the two of us. Just for the brass, we always need a little help from our friend CATT. Paul Rundel played some wistful violins on »Balloon« and Antonio Lucaciu provided our very first saxophone solo on »Peaches«.
